Slow Down, Breathe Deep, and Let the Good Stuff In this Easter

Well y’all, the flowers are blooming, the days are getting longer, and my porch plants are finally looking like they might survive! That can only mean one thing—Easter is just around the corner.
Now I don’t know about you, but this time of year always makes me want to hit the pause button for just a minute. I walked out on the porch the other morning with a hot cup of coffee, still in my slippers, and watched a pair of birds working on a nest in the dogwood tree. They were fussing over every little twig like it was life or death. And I thought, isn’t that just like us sometimes? Trying to get everything just right before we let ourselves rest. Before we feel like we’ve “earned” a break. Life moves fast—we’re working, taking care of people, trying to stay on top of it all. But spring has this sweet way of reminding us to slow down, breathe a little deeper, and look around at all the beauty coming back to life.
But you know what spring teaches us—it’s okay to begin again, even if it’s messy. The blooms don’t ask for permission. They just show up. It’s a season for fresh starts. Whether that means dyeing eggs with your grandbabies, planting tomatoes in the backyard, or finally giving yourself a quiet moment with your coffee, your birds, and your thoughts—that’s all growth. And honestly? That’s where the good stuff starts. Maybe your holiday looks like a big family dinner with ham and deviled eggs. Maybe it’s just you and a good book and a Reese’s egg. Either way, I hope you’ll take a moment to sit still and breathe in the grace of this season. Because grace is all around us this time of year—in the little hands reaching for Easter eggs, in the flowers pushing through the dirt, in the neighbor waving from across the yard. And yes, it might even show up in a nudge. That tug in your gut that says,
“Maybe it’s time I try something new.”
“Maybe I’m ready for more.”
“Maybe I’ve still got some dreams in me.” That’s Easter to me. A quiet kind of hope. A soft place to land after a long winter—whether that winter was in the weather or in your spirit. Easter reminds me that we don’t have to have it all figured out to take the next step. Maybe you're thinking about going back to class, renewing your license, or even starting fresh in real estate. If that sounds like you, I just want you to know—you don’t have to leap. You don’t have to know it all. You just have to take the next small step when you’re ready. And when you are? We’ll be here. There’s a seat saved for you whenever the time feels right. At the Jan Secor School of Real Estate, we’ve seen folks from every walk of life take that brave little step into something new. Young moms. Retirees. Teachers looking for a second act. Veterans ready to serve their communities in a brand-new way. Folks who never thought they'd be "back in class" again. And they all started the same way: one small choice.
We keep our courses flexible, our instructors kind, and our virtual doors wide open. Because we believe learning should feel a little like spring—hopeful, forgiving, and full of fresh starts. But this week? Don’t worry about all that. No pressure. Just possibilities.
This week, I hope you dye eggs with someone you love. I hope you have a quiet morning on the porch. I hope you laugh. I hope you eat too much banana pudding and forget to feel guilty about it. I hope you notice something beautiful right where you are.
Happy Easter. You’re doing just fine.
